Xbox cloud gaming discontinuation: here’s why its queue is so long

The Xbox Cloud Gaming service has been down since Thursday, according to the official Xbox Support Twitter account. It looks like the service, which lets you play Xbox games on phones, tablets and other devices, is slowly making a comeback. But it’s still not 100%.

The Xbox Support Account tweeted on Thursday that it was aware of issues with the release of Cloud Gaming titles. in it Xbox Status Pageshowed that the issue started at 1:42 pm ET/ 10:42 am PT and is still being worked on with a resolution saying it is “pending.” The Xbox Support Account tweeted Friday morning says people trying to start a game will see long lines, but it shouldn’t take as long as shown.

“Users may see an incorrectly high wait time when trying to launch a cloud gaming title,” the account said. “Our teams hope that users will be able to connect faster than the high time shown.”

When you start a game, for example, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the queue page appears. In one case, it showed a wait time of more than 3 hours. On normal days, there is hardly any queue. When there is one, it is usually a few minutes.

a thread in r/xnubeThe Xbox Cloud Gaming subreddit showed that people were unable to play games on the service, whether on their Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, and other devices. The problem also appears to be global: People in Germany, Costa Rica and Brazil say they can’t use the service.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is included with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership. It’s unclear if perhaps the influx of new Xbox owners since Christmas could have caused a problem. A decade ago, both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network went down around Christmas, but that was blamed on a cyberattack by a group of hackers.
