England’s manager, Sarina Wiegman, insists that her players are well prepared to increase temperatures in Switzerland as the Lionesses begin the defense of their female European championship title this weekend.
England faces France in Zurich on Saturday with temperatures that will be held in the 20s while the Wiegman side seeks to retain the trophy they raised in Wembley in 2022.
But if it progresses from the so -called ‘death group’ that includes Les Bleues, the Netherlands, who won the competition in 2017 under Wiegman, and the debutants of the tournament, Wales, will be a challenge for his team, the head of England is sure that the Heat will not be a problem for its players.
“We could already practice it in the first week of our training field because in England it was also very hot,” said Wiegman, who revealed the protocols that the team has to help manage the game in the punishing climate.
“We have frost towels at the time of rest in training sessions.
“We make sure to be hydrated. Rest, not between all the time, to recover, and do those things to keep the temperature of your body low.”

Before the clash with France, which was semifinalist three years ago, Wiegman also revealed that he does not plan to make additional substitutions because of the warm climate.
She added: “When we have underlined it because it is necessary to change the game or submarañero to someone who gave everything that needs to leave, I will not think about handling the heat at that time.
“After that game, we recover and then join as a team with the doctor and technician, how do all of this game come out and then move towards the next game against the Netherlands”?
The Lionesses play France in their first game of Group D on Saturday, with the match starting at 20:00 (United Kingdom time).
