The match began with a passionate start from Perth Scorchers opener Allen who opened the innings with a boundary off the first ball. Meredith bowled a long delivery that wobbled outside, and Allen expertly hit it to the left of middle, sending the ball towards the boundary. The crowd roared as Allen got off to a good start, but the next delivery turned the tide in Hobart’s favor.
Meredith’s next pass to Allen was a long ball that went in after the pitch, catching the inside edge of Allen’s bat. The ball sailed away from his body and in a split second, McDermott, positioned behind the stumps, darted magnificently to his left to catch it with one hand. Allen was dismissed for 4 runs off just 2 balls.

Meredith was the standout player for the Hobart Hurricanes in the first inning. The right-arm fast bowler’s exceptional 3-wicket spell of 25 runs in 4 overs played a pivotal role in keeping the Scorchers’ batting in check.
