Walton Goggins technically won an Oscar for a project that you probably have never seen

Since he made his debut as an actor in an episode of 1989 of the NBC Police drama “in The Heat of the Night”, Walton Goggins has been a very welcome presence on large and small screens. First it appeared when the police detective Shane Vendrell in the Electrifying FX series “The Shield”, and won our hearts as the Boyd Crowder criminal in more than six brilliant seasons of “Justified” of FX FX. We also love him as baby Freeman’s baby in “The Righting Gemstones”, and his interpretation of the Ghoul in “Fallout” impressed us. Goggins has been in some bad movies over the years (for example, “American Ultra” and “Cowboys & Aliens”), but it was certainly not bad in them. The man seems totally unable to give a bum performance.

Since Goggins has become the favorite of the filmmaker Quentin Tarantino since he appeared in “Django Unchained”, is it too much to expect that, every time the director gets to make his tenth and supposedly final film, he will have a pleasant and juicy role? For this southern prince of an actor? And if does Has one reserved for Goggins, could this be the role that finally wins the last recognition of his classmates at the Motion Arts and Film Academy?

Actually, there is no “finally” about it. Goggins already has an Oscar on his shelf. If you ask how it is possible, you should look towards one of the awards that is usually given early on Oscar night.

Walton Goggins won the best live action short film in 2002

In 2001, while Goggins was making his big screen bones through bits parts in films such as “Shanghai Noon” and “The Crow: Salvation”, he found time to produce and appear in a short film entitled “The ACCOuntant”. It is a peculiarly charming comedy about two brothers who are looking for the services of an unconventional financial advisor that, between beer suits and drags many cigarettes, resolves a plan that could allow them to save their family’s farm.

“The Accountant” was written and directed by Ray McKinnon (who plays the main character), an executive produced by his wife Lisa Blount (who is undoubtedly remembered of “an officer and a gentleman”, among many other films before his death in 2010), and produced by Goggins (who plays one of the brothers), the three looked stunned when the presenters Hugh Jackman and Naomi Watts read their names as the winners of the best short -up of action live Oscar in the 2002 ceremony.

It is a night that Goggins remembers well. As he told Business Insider In 2018:

“(I) In the short film category, you can only put two names for the prize, so they were Ray and Lisa, but we all did it together, so we all decided that we would go on stage. And we timed our speech so we could all Talk in 30 seconds and not urinate anyone.

When he asked if he has one of those two Oscar, Goggins said: “I have one and Ray has the other and we have Lisa in our hearts.”
