Virgil van Dijk says he is not thinking about a potential Liverpool quadruple this season despite the Reds’ impressive first half of the campaign.
Arne Slot’s side beat Spurs 6-3 on Sunday and are currently top of the Premier League and Champions League standings, as well as in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
It has been a good start to life with Slot, but the Liverpool captain insists he will not get too carried away at this stage of the season.

After the 6-3 win at Tottenham, the Dutchman said: “Is it a quadruple in this case? Well, I think I have already answered many times that we do not think about what will be in May. We want to be there in May, but we have seen how difficult it is.
“But listen, we’re focused on what’s ahead of us and that’s the only thing. I won’t get dragged into any conversation about the possibility of winning a trophy, two, three or four.
“It’s about being there in each and every game we have ahead of us. At this moment there were the Spurs, who were difficult, but we played a very good game. And then there is Leicester, and that is the only team we also have influence on.”

However, Van Dijk, whose current contract at Anfield ends in the summer, has not been surprised by a run that has seen him lose just once in all competitions this season.
“No (we haven’t surprised ourselves),” Van Dijk said.
“Yes, obviously I think we’ve only had one addition to the team in terms of Federico (Chiesa), and this group of players have been playing together for quite some time.
“The experience is there, the quality is there, I have seen it every day.
“It’s obviously a surprise that there is such a big change with the replacement of Jurgen (Klopp) by the new manager, and there will always be question marks, but I still had so much confidence in my team that we could definitely compete at the moment, at least in the top of the Premier League. So we have to be consistent.”
On his contractual situation at Liverpool, Van Dijk added: “There is no deadline.
“I’ll see what the future holds for me. “I am fully focused on Leicester.”
