Tuchel admits England ‘Frozen’ by Senegal in a defeat shock

Thomas Tuchel says his team in England felt “frozen” against Senegal after losing 3-1 in the city of Nottingham.

The three lions completed their international rest with a friendly against the African side, which registered a first victory for the continent against them.

The initial objective of Harry Kane was not enough to deny Senegal in Midlands, who hit twice in the second half for Damn is Tuchel to his first defeat.

And gave a bleak evaluation of performance, admitting that it was not good enough in the field.

Speaking to the press after the game, he said: “Yes, of course, it is a disappointing result. I am not sure if we did not deserve a little more in terms of results.

“I felt a little frozen, not active enough for a long time during the game. We defended quite well for long periods in the first half and then our best period came when we were 2-1 below.

“We grant the first two goals: very easy goals, we need to defend better.

“The reaction was good after we were down. We were suddenly more active, more free, more fluid, more aggressive. We had great possibilities to match.”

Jude Bellingham left the afternoon bench and thought he grabbed an equalizer to put it 2-2, just for VAR to rule out the goal by VAR for an offside.

At the time, Tuchel added: “I just saw it, it looks more on the shoulder than the hand. I saw it as an objective that must be reviewed, it is the first time that the referee reviews a goal. So it is a mistake, so take it. Or it is not a mistake, so it is a goal.”

The German boss was also criticized for removing Harry Kane but not replacing him with a striker, despite continuing.

Ivan Toney arrived at the final moments, but it was very little, too late at that time.

Tuchel said: “It was more than three minutes. I think Ivan is a specialist in these situations, we create many opportunities with Morgan Gibbs-White, EBS (Eberrechi Eze), Morgan Rogers and with Jude (Bellingham) in fluid positions.

“I think Ivan is the strongest when we have many balls in the box, and that was the case, so we prepared it at 80 minutes.”
