Russian President Vladimir Putin, held the conversations with the special envoy of US President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff in Moscow on Wednesday, said Kremlin, days before the deadline of the White House so that Russia reaches a peace agreement with Ukraine or potentially confront severe economic sentences that could also affect countries to buy their countries.
The Kremlin did not immediately provide more details of the meeting. Previously, Witkoff took an early ride in the morning through Zaryadye Park, a stone shot of the Kremlin, with Kirill Dmitriev, the envoy of the Russian president for investment and economic cooperation, the images cast by Tass showed.
Dmitriev played a key role in three rounds of direct conversations between delegations of Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul in recent months, as well as discussions between Russian and American officials. Trump’s deadline for Putin ends on Friday. Washington has threatened “serious tariffs” and other economic sanctions if the murder does not stop.
Trump has expressed a growing frustration with Putin about the growing attacks of Russia in the civil areas of Ukraine, destined to erode morality and public appetite by war. Intensified attacks have occurred even when Trump has urged the Russian leader in recent months to give in.

Western analysts and Ukrainian officials say that Putin is stagnating for time and avoiding serious negotiations, while Russian forces press to capture more lands of Ukraine. The Washington -based European Policies Analysis Center warned in an evaluation this week that there are “clear signs that the Kremlin is preparing for a broader confrontation with NATO”, including a military accumulation along the western flank of Russia with the alliance countries in recent years.
Putin has strengthened the military ties of Russia with China, North Korea and Iran. Meanwhile, NATO said Tuesday that it has begun to coordinate regular installments of large western weapons packages to Ukraine. European and Canada allies are buying most of the equipment they plan to transport from the United States. The Trump administration is not donating any weapons to Ukraine.
Putin has not given an indication that he could be ready to make concessions. On the other hand, the Russian leader and senior Kremlin officials have spoken with the country’s military force.
Putin announced last week that the new hypersonic missile of Russia, which according to him cannot be intercepted by the current NATO air defense systems, has entered service.
Meanwhile, former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev warned that the Ukraine War could lead Russia and the United States to the armed conflict. Trump responded to that ordering the repositioning of two American nuclear submarines.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov welcomed Witkoff’s visit. “We consider (talk to Witkoff) important, noun and very useful,” he said.
Initially, Trump gave Moscow a period of 50 days, but then uploaded its ultimatum while the Kremlin continued to bombard the Ukrainian cities.
However, Trump himself doubted his effectiveness, saying on Sunday that Russia has proven to be “quite good to avoid sanctions.”
“They are cunning characters,” he said about the Russians.
The Kremlin has insisted that the international sanctions imposed since its invasion of its neighbor in February 2022 have had a limited impact.
Ukraine argues that the sanctions are affecting the Moscow war machine and wants Western allies to increase them.
