The Trump administration is implementing tariffs through its new International Law on Emergency Economic Powers (IEEPA).
In a statement obtained by Fox News on Saturday, the White House said that the legislation occurs in the midst of an “extraordinary threat raised by foreigners and illegal drugs, including mortal fentanyl, constitutes a national emergency.
“President Donald J. Trump is implementing an additional 25% tariff on the imports of Canada and Mexico and an additional 10% rate on China’s imports. Canada’s energy resources will have a lower rate of 10%,” Read in the statement.
