President Trump opposed a recent Israeli plan to kill the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, three US officials said to CBS News on Sunday.
The Israelis had the opportunity to kill Khamenei and Trump transmitted to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who was not a good idea, an American official told CBS News. They said that the conversation between Netanyahu and Mr. Trump occurred since Israel launched a Mass attack against Iran last week.
Trump’s rejection of the proposal was first informed by Reuters.
A senior United States official told CBS News on Saturday that there has been no direct contact between the United States and Iran. An Israeli official in Washington, DC, told CBS News on Saturday that there is regular contact between the United States and Israel, and the leaders had spoken Monday, Thursday and Friday.

During an interview with the “Fox News Special Report with Bret Baier” on Sunday, Netyahu did not confirm or directly denied Reuters reports when asked about it.
“There are so many false reports of conversations that never happened and I will not get into that,” he said. “But I can tell you that I think we do what we have to do. We will do what we need to do and I think that the United States knows what is good for the United States and I will simply not enter that.”
An Israeli official told CBS News that “in principle,” Israel does not “kill political leaders, we are focused on nuclear and military. I don’t think anyone makes decisions about those programs should live free and easy.”
As Ayatollah is the one who makes those decisions, the official scored “the supreme leader should be changing the rooms at night.”
Trump has not publicly commented on the report. On Sunday, he issued a warning marked to Iran against reprisals against US objectives in the Middle East.
In a publication about Truth Social, Trump said that the United States “had nothing to do with the attack against Iran” while Israel and Iran exchanged missile attacks for the third consecutive day.
“If you are attacked in some way, form or form by Iran, all the strength and power of the United States armed forces will fall into levels never seen before,” Trump said.
Hours later, Mr. Trump seemed to predict “Iran and Israel should reach an agreement, and will reach an agreement.”
The president said he has a record of conflicts of deccalization, and that he would make Israel and go cease hostilities “just like I got India and Pakistan” after the recent cross -border confrontation of the two countries.
Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday about the growing conflict in Israel-Iran. It is also ready to travel later on Sunday to Canada for a group of seven, or G7, the leaders of leaders, where the Middle East is expected to be large.
