‘This should be considered culpable homicide’: Netizens react after Bengaluru bus caught traveling on wrong side, raising road safety alarms

Reckless driving remains a major safety issue across India, and frequent incidents highlight the risks it poses to everyone on the road. A recent case in Bengaluru has once again drawn attention to the dangers of such behaviour, when a bus driver was caught driving on the wrong side of the road.

A video capturing the shocking incident, recorded by a driver traveling in the correct lane, was shared on X (formerly Twitter). The video shows the bus driving recklessly into oncoming traffic, ignoring the imminent danger it poses to other vehicles. Despite the chaotic scene, the bus driver continues undaunted, endangering the passengers on board and other road users.

According to the comments on the viral post, the incident occurred on NICE Road, specifically between Bannerghatta junction and Electronic City toll plaza. Being a crucial route in Bengaluru’s transport network, the driver’s reckless actions have raised serious safety concerns.

The post, tagged Bengaluru City Traffic Police, demanded quick action against both the driver and the owner of the bus.

“Dangerous driving alert! The bus is traveling in the opposite direction on the Nice road! This reckless behavior could lead to serious accidents if a collision occurs. The driver and owner must be held accountable. Let’s prioritize safety on the roads,” the post said.

The video sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many condemning the bus driver’s reckless actions. Many users demanded strict penalties, including revocation of driving licenses.

One user commented: “This should be considered manslaughter.”

Another added: “This is the act of a sick mind. This bus driver is not mentally stable. “He should be arrested and jailed immediately.”

Someone else stated: “Wrong-side driving should be charged with attempted murder in the event of an accident.”

“This happens because there is no strict implementation of the law. “People feel like at best they have to bribe the police,” one person wrote.

One user commented: “I’m quite amused that the normal public can figure this out, but the authorities, with all the money invested in technology and monitoring, can’t. “This is definitely worth canceling the driver’s license, blacklisting the driver so that a new driver’s license is never issued, and receiving a severe fine including charges of attempted murder.”
