‘This is its end of the Cup’

The captain of Liverpool, Virgil Van Dijk, says it would also be difficult to overcome Everton in his “Cup final.”

Reflecting on the game, Van Dijk admitted that it was a difficult night, but Everton was always going to make it difficult in what he called his biggest game of the season.

He said: “Intense, it was always going to be intense. Many battles. Very disappointing to grant in the last second of the game, or even in extra time, but it is what it is. It is not easy to accept it, especially in the way, but we take it and move on.

“I think the referee had a large part in the game today in terms of certain challenges were given as faults and were not similar. In the end, it is disappointing to grant a very good attack, but disappointing.

Van Dijk also commented on the fight between Jones and Doucoure, once again pointing to the finger to referee Oliver.

He added: “We saw how they celebrated the objective, they have all the right.

“I think Abdouye Doucoure wanted to provoke our fans, I think that’s what I saw and Curtis Jones did not believe it was right. And then you know what happens if there is a small fight.

“I didn’t think the referee had the game under control. Both teams had to deal with that. ”
