‘They have been too close. This is…’: Netizens criticize Ranthambore tourists for recording a video of a tiger hunting deer in front of them

A group of tourists in Rajasthan’s Ranthambore National Park faced criticism online after filming a tiger hunting a deer at a dangerously close distance.

The video, shared on the park’s official Instagram account, captured tourists in safari jeeps watching the rare moment from a disturbingly close distance, prompting backlash from wildlife advocates.

Many tourists were worried about recording the scene, and one even took a selfie while the tiger hunted in the background.

“During the safari, the tourists experienced a rare and impressive moment: a tiger hunting a deer right in front of them. The sheer agility, strength and precision of this majestic predator left them speechless. These moments remind them of the beauty and the brutality of the wild, where every moment is unpredictable. Truly an unforgettable experience,” the caption of the post read.

Wildlife enthusiasts criticized both tourists and Ranthambore authorities for allowing such close proximity to the tiger’s natural habitat.

“They have been too close. This is unnecessary,” one commenter wrote. Another user commented: “Lack of respect towards the tiger by the drivers and guides, too close.”

“It’s ridiculous that they allow so many people near their habitat, absolutely disgusting,” another user added.

Calling on Ranthambore authorities to regulate safari trips, one user suggested: “The number of safaris per day should be controlled. This is very insensitive and disgusting.”
