The young Sheldon’s reaction to George’s death explained by Iain Armitage

Sheldon Cooper, the Nerd protagonist of the “Young Sheldon” and “The Big Bang Theory” center, has a tendency to react to things a little different from the people around him, and is never more evident than in the episode of season 7 “a new home and traditional Texas torture.” At the end of the episode, the young Sheldon (Iain Armitage) and his family is told that Sheldon George (Lance Barber) died of a heart attack, and while his mother, sister and grandmother begin to cry, Sheldon only seems like A little surprised and sits, his blank face. For someone abroad, it may seem that he doesn’t care, but because Sheldon is an unplayed neurodivergening flavor, his reaction is actually as intense as possible.

Sheldon would continue to have a different reaction to George’s death than to the rest of the family, looking even more separate than usual in the heartbreaking penultimate and final episodes, but there was a good reason behind everything. In an interview with Television lineArmitage broke everything and explained that Sheldon was absolutely afflicted, he was only doing it in his own way.

While Sheldon’s members were externally devastated by the news and began to cry, Sheldon was so overwhelmed that he simply closed as Armitage explained:

“What happens with Sheldon is that it is less an external stone face, I think that for other characters, perhaps that the stone facade is falling apart from the outside, for Sheldon is from inside out. One of the first shots that We did. More heartbreaking if we see that Sheldon cannot even begin to process or understand that to the point that his mind does not try;

In the scene, we can see that Sheldon’s eyes move subtly while his brain tries to understand what he has just heard, and is absolutely insensitive to the soul because we are seeing a young man realizing that he will never see his father again. George and Sheldon had a complicated relationship that could have improved over time, but tragically never had that opportunity and helped shape the adult, Sheldon finally became “The Big Bang Theory” (where he was played by Jim Parsons, who narrated “Young Sheldon” and had a cameo in the end). Everyone afflicts differently, and for Sheldon, it seems that their brain jumped directly to denial. Maybe one day, long after the events of even “The Big Bang Theory”, you will finally find acceptance.
