The wolves approach Pereira’s appointment

Wolves are expected to confirm the appointment of Vitor Pereira as their new head coach today.

The Portuguese will succeed Gary O’Neil, who was sacked following Saturday’s home defeat to Ipswich which left Wolves in second-to-last place in the Premier League having won just two games this season.

Wolves and Pereira’s current club Al Shabab have reportedly agreed a compensation package that will see the 56-year-old take charge of Molineux ahead of Sunday’s trip to relegation rivals Leicester City.

Pereira has enjoyed a nomadic period in management, undergoing stints in his homeland as well as in Saudi Arabia, Greece, Turkey, Germany, China and Brazil.

The highlight of his coaching career was a two-year spell in charge of Porto, leading them to consecutive Primeira Liga titles.

He has also won league titles with Olympiacos and Shanghai SIPG.

However, Pereira will have a tough job on his hands to try to steer Wolves away from danger.

The club may also have to be without star player Matheus Cunha for a while after the Football Association accused him of misconduct this morning.

The Brazilian striker, Wolves’ top scorer with eight goals in the Premier League this season, was involved in a fight after the game against Ipswich, fighting with a member of the rival’s security staff.
