The setback buttons take a little to get used to
When Microsoft dropped the Xbox Elite wireless controller almost exactly a decade, established a new standard for professional style controllers and, more importantly, made them much more accessible to all players.
The best part for us is that the popularity of the Elite series controller, and other similar ones, have generated a wide range of excellent Xbox pro-degrade controlle as the $ 200 revolution X Unlimited Nacon.
The appearance of revolution X Unlimited falls. I would like there to be more color options, but matte black with subtle green trim looks pretty good. I do not like controllers who strive too much to stand out with their designs, so the discreet but quality of the revolution X is excellent.
It is a little flatter and more square than most other Xbox controllers, including the elite, and I worried that I felt too big in my little hands. But he does not: he feels comfortably in my grip, and I don’t need any crazy gymnastics for the finger to reach the buttons. I even surprised that I could easily reach the two additional average bumpers without having to change a Claw grip.
The adjustable lid withdrawal from Joystick.
The face buttons are quite flat, which makes me much easier to press, and the largest surface makes them a larger (and easier to achieve) target. The Xyab buttons, the eight-road D-Pad, the trigger stops and four backward buttons are all the microeswitches, and they feel very solid. The effect of the trigger room and the joysticks have a little more tension than I am used to, but they are extremely receptive and quite solid.
I only have a couple of problems with the hardware. On the one hand, there are only two stages in the trigger stops, but at least it is a complete stop instead of halfway, as in the brother PlayStation of the X Ulimited revolution, the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro, and can customize it more in the software.
My other frustration is with the background buttons. They are pleasant, but if you tend to grab the grip well, as during an intense fight or boss fight, it is quite easy to accidentally press the inferiors with your piss. Fortunately, you can disable them if it becomes a problem. I prefer the palettes to the buttons, anyway.
You can adjust the controller sensation by changing the set of pesos in the grips.
Nacon claims more than 10 hours of battery duration on its website, which initially disappointed me, that is quite bad. But during my tests, I was extremely impressed. It lasted more than 10 hours without the need for a load and, honestly, it is one of the best battery durations that I have seen in a controller.
None of these complaints would prevent me from recommending the controller; They are just things to consider if you are going to spend $ 200 on a controller.
Personalization is the greatest strength of Revolution X: it gives you the most granular hardware and software options I have seen. You can insert a set of pesos of 10, 14 or 16 grams (included in the box) for the exact sensation in the hand you want. You also get additional joystick tapas and small metal rings aimed at increasing the physical thickness of the joystick. Nacon also offers you a traditional four-way D-Pades for games where you need it.
Nacon has a free PC application for all standard software modifications that would expect, such as buttons reallocation, multiple profiles, dead joystick areas and activation response. You may not expect that joysticks and triggers can be adjusted through a linear graph for an extremely adjusted response capacity. Other controllers that I have used allow you to choose between some preselected ranges, but Nacon allows you to establish it precisely for the division response.
It comes with four incorporated profiles, but you can create as many as you want (only four assets at the same time), and Nacon makes it easy to export them and import them through their Nacon controllers, or change between them. An LCD screen in the controller helps optimize the selection process and to remind you that you want the current configuration to be.
The controller comes with a complete set of accessories, which includes a loading dock.
I was also impressed by the grouped accessories. In addition to all the things I already mentioned, you also get a load base (which also houses the wireless dongle), and the transport case is first category (including the zipper). It is good to see a company pay attention to details.
It doesn’t matter how I see it, $ 200 is a lot of money for a game controller. Especially when you can obtain excellent controllers such as Elite Wireless 2 or the Victrix Pro BFG for only $ 140- $ 150. But if you want a solid hardware with granular customization for tuned performance, the revolution X Unlimited is one of the best.
