The Syrian government exploits Israeli combat aircraft attacks in two cities: Report | Conflict news

Latest Israeli attacks against Homs and Latakia a continuation of the “aggressive climbs” of Israel, says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Syria.

Syria has “strongly condemned” Israeli attacks in several places in the city of Homs and its surroundings, in the west of the country and around the coastal city of Latakia.

Israeli air attacks in the early hours of Tuesday represent “a shameless violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic,” said the country’s foreign ministry in a statement.

The Ministry also described the Israeli attacks as “a direct threat” for Syrian security and regional stability, said the official Syrian Arab news agency (healthy).

Sana did not provide details about the size of the attacks against Homs and Latakia, or possible casualties after the strikes.

The Syrian Human Rights Observatory based in the United Kingdom (SOHR) said that Israeli combat aircraft attacked a base of the Syrian Air Force in Homs, where the premises heard huge explosions, although there were no initial reports of victims.

In Latakia, Israeli combat aircraft attacked a military barracks, and the locals reported that ambulances were heard running to the strike scene, although there were no initial casualties in that attack.

The continuous and not caused attacks of Israel against Syria are “part of a series of aggressive climbs that Israel pursued against the Syrian territory”, and the government rejects “any attempt to undermine its sovereignty or damage its national security,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in his statement.

The Ministry also asked the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take a “clear and firm position to end” Israeli attacks, which the ministry said they are a “flagrant violation” of international law and the principles of the UN Charter, SANA said.

According to the Sohr, Israel has carried out almost 100 attacks so far this year, including 86 air attacks and 11 attacks by Israeli terrestrial forces, which leads to the destruction of some 135 sites in the country and the murder of 61 people.

In the period between December 8, 2024, the date of the fall of the Bashar Al-Assad regime in Damascus, and on December 31, 2024, Israel carried out more than 500 air attacks in objectives throughout the country.

While Israel had fought for years a secret air bombing campaign against Syria’s military infrastructure, their attacks against its neighbor have increased since the war against Gaza and the fall of the Al-Assad regime.

At the end of August, six Syrian soldiers were killed in a strike of unmanned Israeli planes against Damascus, which arrived a day after an incursion into the Syrian territory for Israeli troops.

The attacks on Syria come in the midst of the promotion of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of a vision for a “Great Israel”, a concept backed by Israeli ultra -nationalists who claims Bank and Gaza occupied, as well as parts of Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and Jordan.
