‘The most powerful weapon in the world is a camera,’ says anti-whaling activist Paul Watson

Paul Watson has dedicated his life to sailing into danger to protect marine life and defend whales at sea. At 73 years old, his decades of activism have led him into conflicts with numerous countries, multiple arrests and even red notices from Interpol, the latest issued by Japan, a nation with a long history of whaling. Paul is committed to exposing illegal whaling operations, even when such activities are disguised as scientific research. More recently, he spent almost five months detained in Greenland, in the custody of Danish authorities at the request of Japan. Japan is seeking his extradition, accusing him of a crime committed 14 years ago in which his team threw stinking bombs of raw butter at the crew of a whaling research ship. Earlier this week, Paul was released without extradition, allowing him to return to France and reunite with his family.
