The look of Dan Da Dan’s first season 2 is more foreboding than fun

The first (and quite good) season of Dan Da Dan ended just a few days ago, and it didn’t take long for Science Saru to announce that a second season was in production. That’s good news, but the good news? Jump Festa provided a first look at what awaits Momo, Okarun, and the rest of their friends.

When last we saw it, the show was in the early parts of the “Cursed House” arc, and saw the duo go on a trip with Momo’s childhood friend Jiji to exorcise an unpleasant spirit from their house. While waiting for him to appear, it turns out that they may have misjudged the situation: Jiji and Okarun found a secret room in the house full of talismans, while Momo was attacked by a group of male villagers. The kids may have Turbo Granny with them, but they may be in a little more danger than previous threats like aliens and Acro-Silky. and that’s without mentioning the sinister provocation of the “Avatar of Hate” with a desire to end humanity and a particular interest in the young Jiji.

Dan Da Dan’s It’s always been a mix of supernatural horror-comedy, and this trailer leans more towards the latter. Do you know that some film or television writers sometimes consider their sequel to be darker than the first? This is something like this; While the trailers for the first season let you know you had a good time, this one wants you to fear for the gang as they figure out what’s going on and try to complete their task. Brief glimpses of the arc’s big bad, an “Avatar of Hate,” give off scarier vibes than Turbo Granny’s possession, and it looks like things are going to escalate in some pretty major ways.

Why does the Avatar want to wipe out humanity and what does Jiji have to do with those plans? We will know when Dan Da Dan returns to Netflix and Crunchyroll in July 2025.
