The Kanspelautoriteit (KSA) has raised concerns about the risk analysis process for online game in the Netherlands, after a study that sanctioned.
The Netherlands Game Authority Found in your report That the current systems implemented by the game operators “do not work correctly” and essentially, there are no expectations to provide “effective” protections to the players.
The ‘Study Report on the Risk Analysis of the Games offered by the Games of Chance in License Games, published on Friday (September 5), showed significant concerns for the KSA about the functionality of the risk analysis framework used throughout the licensed sector.
Measures are an integral part of the obligations of care established under Dutch law, which all operators must comply with. In particular, it is assumed that “high -risk games” are mitigated with protective actions such as warnings or deposit limits.
With the investigation carried out in 2024 in the current year, the 28 licensed operators in the Netherlands were evaluated and evaluated their methods, which resulted in the conclusion that the systems do not work “optimally”, producing inappropriate results despite the significant costs and resources incurred.
The Kanspelautoriteit declared that the measures come from the liberalization of the market of 2021 and have not been updated since then, which shows that they are not suitable for the contemporary market.
The KSA highlighted several concerns, including outdated and inconsistent methodologies, analysis of category level games against individual games, insufficient experience and independence, and high costs with minimal benefits.
According to these headers, the respective problems and findings were detailed, and the Dutch body also considered regulatory implications and the broader market.
In response to the report and its content, the Kanspelautoriteit has committed to presenting directly with the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security in the proposed reforms to establish a “clearer and clearer system” for risk analysis.
This could include mandatory requirements for operators, such as game evaluations, standardized methodologies and clearer experience requirements.
Although the current approach meets the minimum legal requirements, the reality is very different, being short in the effective protections of the players.
It is known that the KSA defends strict requirements and expectations, with many recent examples of application against entities that have not met.
One of them was the fine of € 450,000 ($ 524,160) taught to the OptDeck service, the Dutch operator of the UNIBET brand prominent, for offering bets in the prohibited football markets.
