Most psychological thrillers revolve around an unreliable protagonist on the edge of a mental collapse, something that I have complained incessantly. 2024 Sharp corner Take a completely different approach as its protagonist emerges while it remains completely lucid, stripping the story of any ambiguity. Here, we follow a man who obsess singularly with the sharp corner outside his new home, where the fatal car spills on his front garden.
A refreshing turn in the genre, and one with a subtle sense of existential humor that elevates the premise, Sharp corner It is a dark but hilarious version of the consequences that occurs when a man who lives a unsatisfactory life yields to his impulses in search of a greater purpose.

Sharp corner He focuses on Josh (Ben Foster), a demotivated sales representative who moves to his alleged house of dreams with his wife, Rachel (Cobie Smulders), and his son, Max (William Kosovic). Before they even end up unpacking, a tire flies through the window window, calling their attention to the horrible shipwreck outside.
Shaking for what happened, Josh becomes obsessed with the stretch of the road and begins to peel at work. He spends his professional and personal time investigating the victims of the accident, of which there are many, and appearing at their funerals to present their respects, acting as if they knew them personally.

Meanwhile, Rachel expresses her concern for Max, who is already struggling to adapt after the move of the city. Josh becomes more negligent with his son, who may or may not be for recurring accidents, since he removes work to take rescue courses.
Buy CPR dolls, hide them in the closet and practice them when no one is close. Josh is lost in an imaginary crusade, believing that he is a hero of the neighborhood who hopes he will go to action when the next inevitable incident occurs.

Josh is not staggering at the edge of madness in Sharp corner. It is completely present as your life falls apart. Cobie Smulders does not play a hysterical housewife or the spouse exaggerating. Rachel is the voice of reason, exhausted by her husband’s negative to sell the house, face Max’s trauma or do what any sensible father in the same circumstances.
As the sharp corner consumes Josh, it is clear that his life was already unsatisfactory, and the constant accidents only forced him to find meaning where there was none. Perhaps his work without joy and his responsibilities of the parents pushed him to a quiet depression. Maybe he never wanted this life and only realized after signing a mortgage that was felt as a death sentence.

Whatever is happening in your mind is not clouded by confusion or psychosis; He knows his deficiencies. He simply does not care, which somehow makes his story more tragic.

Dark and melancholic, with sufficient situational humor to keep things morbidly funny, Sharp corner He manages to be a slow burn and a wild trip. With each fatal collision, we see a man unravel, not of madness, but of his lack of will to face what drives him.

How far is Josh willing to find meaning in his ordinary life? Sharp corner Answer a shipwreck at the same time.
