The DC Universe movie that makes more sense for Zack Snyder to direct

People who monitor several DC film adaptations have probably seen that viral photo of James Gunn and Zack Snyder, also known as the current architect of the new DC universe and the former intellectual center of the extended universe of DC, respectively. It is easy to start wondering why this meeting happened. Was Gunn collecting Snyder’s brain for some visions in his visions for the DCEU (RIP) and what exactly does it feel that he went wrong? Did the two simply wanted to talk about the industry in more general terms? Or simply remember about “Dawn of the Dead” (2004), which Snyder directed and wrote Gunn? Gunn post in Xpreviously known as Twitter, he certainly kept things vague enough to justify speculation:

Actually, this was simply the two filmmakers that trolling fans a bit. During a special DC presentation that Bill Bria of /Film attended on February 21, 2025, Gunn revealed that the photo was simply a fun byproduct of him and Snyder was up to date socially:

“I was talking to Zack as a friend. We were hanging out and then we thought: ‘Let’s take a photo together.’ We knew very well what we were doing (laughs).”

But what happens if we assume that this Gunn statement is really a careful direction, and the two were talking about DCU Shop after all? What project could Snyder theoretically in the new version of Gunn, much brighter, the myth of DC Comics? It turns out that there is a very particular DCU film in the development that would fit Snyder’s film sensibilities with a HEO. That project is none other than “the authority”, and in many ways, Snyder would be a terribly good option as director.

Even without a pinch of solid evidence, except for a selfie that James Gunn explicitly declared that it was joking, it has a surprising sense of starting to wonder if Zack Snyder could be the right man to handle the correction of the course in “the authority.” On the one hand, you need to correct. As Gunn said in the presentation of February 21, “the authority” has found some surprising turbulence:

“‘(‘ The authority ‘has been) that has been the most difficult. Both for changing general history and for doing it well in a world with’ The Boys’. And a world with all the things that ‘authority’ influenced that came out after that.

Gunn Name Stringping “The Boys” is suitable. In comics, authority is a somewhat dysfunctional team that is actively indicated on the non -enhanced world, which obviously has similarities with the main supergroup of the video program, the inept but dangerous seven (although the authority is more powerful and considerably more altruistic ). In addition, its atmosphere is usually quite dark, and its villains tend to be threats at planetary scale or invincible deviants. Read that prayer after watching the colorful trailer of the DC Universe of Gunn “Superman” (2025) and you can see why those characters could have difficulty fitting. However, read it after seeing “The Justice League of Zack Snyder”, and it is very different history.

Zack Snyder’s very particular and very recognizable film As such, its distinctive aesthetics and its deep experience of experience could only be the ticket to give life to “the authority” in a way that gives the super team a recognizable identity that does not make you wait for half of Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) from “the boys” to appear and start throwing insults. In addition to bringing his recognizable cinematographic identity to the table, Snyder would also probably benefit from James Gunn, whose sensibilities of the narrator should undoubtedly complement the Snyder approach, and his co-head of DC Studios, Peter Safran, supervising the project.

In addition to being the potential solution for the “The Authority” puzzle of Gunn, Snyder could become a rare unifying force between the notoriously vocal and pleasure world of the DC Fandom film. It is still in great respect for a great contingent of fans who lose the days of DCEU of dark color, so the news of the return of Snyder in the business of DC movies would undoubtedly be of the variety that breaks the Internet, and Gunn and Safran would probably want to play as close as possible to the chest while things are being shaken.

Once again, none of this is to say that Snyder is really in conversations with the rudder of “the authority” or any other DCU company. Even so, despite the fact that very well we could never see his opinion on this particular group, it is worth remembering that “the authority” is Gunn’s Passion project in the new DC universe … and recruiting the firm hand Snyder to direct the ship would make all kinds of meaning.
