In a Russian mountain contest that flowed for more than 130 minutes, it was England who triumphed in a dramatic penalty shooting against Sweden to reserve its place in the Semifinals Euro 2025.
The lionesses showed an incredible recovery capacity to resort from two goals down, finally sealing their place against Italy thanks to a final penalty composed of Lucy Bronze and the crucial salvations of goalkeeper Hannah Hampton.
Sweden left the blocks flying in the first half, catching England off guard with its intensity and frankness.
The Swedes took only two minutes to open the scoreboard, after Kosovare Asllani clung to a smart pass from Stina Blackstenius and placed the ball in the lower corner beyond Hampton.
England seemed to clash and fought to impose himself, with Sweden dominating.
Just over twenty minutes later, the Swedish advantage doubled. Julia Zigiotti Olme divided England’s defense with a ball to Blackstenius, who pierced a low end beyond Hampton to put the 2-0.
The defense generally composed of England was disjointed, and its attack efforts were largely annulled in the first 45 minutes.
We never renounced.

Lauren Hemp and Alessia Russo approached, but they could not find the advance, with Jennifer Falk in the goal of Sweden showing composure and safe hands during the first half.
England made several changes around the 70 -minute brand to cause a change. Michelle Agyemang, Beth Mead and Esme Morgan were presented as manager Sarina Wiegman sought to inject rhythm and creativity.
The change was immediate. Chloe Kelly also left the bench and proved to be a game change.
In the 79th minute, Kelly snuggled in a delicious cross on the right, and Lucy Bronze found him in the back post, half the deficit.
Only two minutes later, England was level. Mead, another substitute, exploded on the right and saw his header blocked in the box. The ball kindly fell to Agyemang, who reacted faster to overcome it from a short distance.
Both parties had the opportunity to win it regularly. Alessia Russo had a blocked opportunity in dying moments, while Madelen Janogy tried Hampton with a curly strike.
With the 2-2 blocked score, the game passed on extra time.

The next 30 minutes were fiercely played, with both teams fighting not only with each other but also the growing tension.
Sweden approached more through Lina Hurtig, whose heading was eliminated by Hampton, and Nathalie Bjorn, who lost for little an established piece.
England also had its moments that Bronze had a long -range shot blocked and Russo was out of the goal with a late attempt.
The substitutions continued in the additional periods. The injuries forced Leah Williamson and Kosovare Allelani, while fresh legs in the form of Sofia Jakobsson, Amanda Nilden and Rebecka Blomqvist were deployed by Sweden.
England brought Grace Clinton, who placed himself in the center of the field as the penalties advanced.
As the final whistle blew with the score still 2-2, the atmosphere was electric and the immense pressure. A criminal shooting would decide the winner.
Alessia Russo opened the shooting with confidence for England, shooting at the corner. Filippa Angeldahl of Sweden took a step forward and saw his shot saved by Hampton.

Lauren James and Beth Mead were denied by Falk in successive attempts, but Sweden could not capitalize on Magdalena Eriksson, and Jennifer Falk approached.
The shooting became a battle of nerves. Chloe Kelly promoted her penalty to the upper corner to take the level of England to 2-2. Nathalie Bjorn scored to restore Sweden’s hope, but Sofia Jakobsson’s excellent Hampton was saved again by the excellent Hampton.
Bronze then held his nerve, throwing his shot into the high center of the goal to put England on the edge.
Smilla Holmberg had the last chance to keep Sweden alive, but she skipped her penalty on the bar, confirming the passage of England to the Final Four.
It was a heroic performance of England, not only to overcome a two -goal deficit, but in the composure they showed under the most intense pressure.
Hampton was undoubtedly the hero of the shooting, making three critical and standing salvages at key moments.
For Sweden, it was heartbreak. They had been the best side for great spells of the party and confirm their lost opportunities in the shooting.
Olme and Blackstenius were excellent in the open game, but ultimately, the margins in knockout football are refined.
England now marched to the semifinals next week, full of adrenaline of a remarkable return and the steel nerves that showed when it mattered the most.
