At least five people were injured and a suspect was killed after a man drove his truck through the glass doors of a JC Penney at a shopping center in Texas, police said.
The incident occurred Saturday night, just days before Christmas, at the Killeen Mall in Killeen, Texas, which is about 70 miles north of Austin.
At a news conference Saturday night, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Bryan Washko said the truck was driven “several hundred yards” through the entrance of the JC Penney store.
The shocked shoppers were injured because the driver was “actively running over people” and a fifth went to hospital on their own, Sergeant Washko said. The injured were between 6 and 75 years old, he said.
