Rosalind Walkeran 80-year-old grandmother, died in 2023 after reportedly becoming trapped in her Sleep Number bed for two days. Now his family has reportedly filed a lawsuit.
According to the daily mailOn March 1, 2023, Walker was trapped between her bed and her bedroom wall. According to the outlet, the Sleep Number bed allegedly “descended on its own without warning.”
On March 3, 2023, emergency services were able to free Walker from the bed. She was later transferred to a hospital. According to the New York PostWalker was “treated for unspecified injuries” and then transferred to a rehabilitation clinic. In the end, the 80-year-old woman was placed in palliative care at home.
Then, on April 3, 2023, Walker passed away.
According to the daily mailAngela Moan, Walker’s daughter, has filed a lawsuit against Sleep Number and its manufacturer, Leggett & Platt. Moan claims that his mother “suffered all the time” until her death.
Additionally, Moan is reportedly seeking compensation for his mother’s injuries. Additionally, he requests compensation for “medical bills exceeding $25,000.”
The lawsuit reportedly alleges that Sleep Number “designed and sold a bed that did not have adequate instructions or warning language alerting Ms. Walker not to go between the bed and the wall, as she could become trapped.” Additionally, the lawsuit claims that the Sleep Number bed “did not have an appropriate release mechanism that would have allowed Ms. Walker to free herself.”
“This negligence was the proximate cause of Ms. Walker’s injuries and suffering, and she died,” the lawsuit states.
By daily maila company spokesperson said it “would not comment on pending litigation.” However, the New York Post posted a quote from a quoted spokesperson saying:
“The lawsuit alleges that a malfunctioning adjustable base, purchased in 2014, was a contributing factor in Rosalind Walker’s death. We understand that this incident allegedly occurred in March 2023; We were notified of the alleged incident after the lawsuit was filed yesterday, December 10. “We extend our deepest condolences to Ms. Walker’s family for their tragic loss.”
