Sony Corp. and PlayStation have a new leadership

Sony Corp. shook the maximum leadership of the company, as well as in its main playstation division. He has designated Hiroki Totoki for CEO’s work, and Hideaki Nishino will be the only CEO of the PlayStation Division, Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Totoki, a 38 -year -old Sony veteran, will replace Kenichiro Yoshida as CEO on April 1, 2025. (Yes, it is not a joke of April innocents). Totoki was previously director of Operations and Financial Director. That’s how it is. It is a financial guy, not a technologist or game leader, who directs the entire business.

Hiroki Totoki is Sony’s new CEO.

In May 2024, Nishino was appointed CEO of the Sony Interactive Platform Business Group, while Hermen Game developer Hulst was appointed CEO of the Division study business group. They replaced CEO Jim Ryan after retiring. Now Nishino will be the head of Hulst. Nishino’s new title is president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, and is still CEO of the Platform Business Group and the Studio Business Group. Hulst will lead the development, publication and commercial operations of the content of SIE’s first party.

Hulst will also lead Sie to work with Sony Pictures in the development of adaptations of its games such as television programs, movies and other transmedia through PlayStation Productions.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Sony Pictures Entertainment saw a change when Ravi Ahuja assumed the tasks of the Tony Viniquerra CEO. Ahuja appeared in Sony Ces 2025 press event on his first day as CEO. And Lin Tao is the new CFO for Sony, the first CFO woman in the company’s 80 years.

Sony has around 110,000 employees, with important businesses in cameras and image devices, televisions, playstation game consoles and television movies and programs. He is also doing a new electric car with Honda, the Alene, full of PlayStation 5.

Yoshida directed Sony since 2018. During that time, he focused on high margin products as cameras, and acquired EMI as part of Sony Music for $ 3.5 billion.

My observation about these changes? I know all Sony’s products, games and consoles. But I no longer recognize the people who run the company. Once I met all the leaders like Kaz Hirai, Andrew House, Jack Tretton, Shawn Layden, Hermen Hulst, Shu Yoshida, Adam Boyes and more. Now, almost nobody.

Yoshida said in a statement that, based on his achievements in Sony, he proposed that Totoki happens in regime change, accrediting Totoki for investments in IP of content and semiconductors. Yoshida will continue as president.
