These gloomy elements are played with skillful control by Reynolds. He grabs the tone of the piece very well and that is a bit miraculous. Jerry ends up doing some monstrous things in the movie, but Reynolds maintains a sympathy with the character that is vital. If it weren’t for Reynolds’s performance, The voices It would probably be too vicious to enjoy at any level.

Fortunately, director Marjane Satrapi Understand how to give better the shape of the Michael R. Perry script. Taking into account that the film is positioned from Jerry’s perspective, we experience the world in his mind. This means that sets, costumes and even the characters are filtered through Jerry’s deformed lens. Finally, this leads to a shocking moment in which all our preconceived notions about Jerry’s life are thrown out of the window. The strict control of Satrapi and Perry about the rhythm of history makes a big difference in a story like this.

It is true that selling a film like this as a comedy does a great service, but its comic components work when they appear.

Otherwise, this is a tragedy from beginning to end. Jerry’s background history ends up being completely devastating and its mental deterioration is heartbreaking. Although Jerry ends up resorting to murder, the film can remind us that he is the victim of his own instability and a system that does not prioritize mental health care. It cannot be denied that The voices It is an annoyance of a film, and that is not necessarily what many people want or expect from a film starring Ryan Reynolds.

Both are exceptional in the movie and shine in more direct comic roles as the movie progresses. And Satrapi’s cinema is undeniably well executed.

It is a real pity because it presents a multifaceted performance by Ryan Reynolds that stands as my favorite in all his work. That makes it the best Ryan Reynolds movie. It sounds like a movie that is worth taking a look.
