Struggle

  • A Russian attack killed three people in the region of Southeast of Zaporizhia in Ukraine on Sunday, Governor Ivan Fedorov wrote on Telegram.
  • A Ukrainian drone attack caused a great fire in an oil deposit in Sochi in southern Russia, the governor of the Krasnodar region of Russia, Veniamin Kondratiev said on Sunday. The fire was extinguished hours later after 120 firefighters were deployed, authorities said. The Civil Aviation Authority of Russia, Rosaviatsia, briefly stopped flights at Sochi airport during the fire.
  • The Ukraine Army says that it used drones to attack several sites within Russia, including refineries, an airfield and an electronics plant.
  • The governor of the Voronezh region in southern Russia said that four people were injured in a Ukrainian drone attack that caused several fires,
  • A Russian attack wounded seven people and destroyed dozens of houses and apartments in the Ukrainian city in southern Mykolaiv, said Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych in Telegram early on Sunday.
  • The Ukraine Air Force said Sunday that Russia launched 76 drones and seven missiles against Ukraine. He said that 60 drones and a missile were intercepted, but 16 drones and six missiles reached eight different locations in Ukraine.
  • The Russian Defense Ministry said that its air defense units destroyed 93 Ukrainian drones during the night, including one on the Krasnodar region and 60 on the waters of the Black Sea. He did not specify how many drones they shot in total.

Policy and diplomacy

  • The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced that Ukraine and Russia agreed to exchange 1,200 prisoners after negotiations in Istanbul, and added that “work on the lists (of the prisoners to be released) is ongoing.” There were no immediate comments from Russia.
  • Zelenskyy announced that he had appointed Anatolii Kryvonozhko as commander of the Ukraine Air Force, a role in which Kryvonozhko has been serving as an interim commander for almost a year.
  • Zelenskyy also said that Ukraine has prepared three new sanctions packages, including sanctions against the captains of the shadow of Petroleros de Russia.
  • China and Russia began the joint naval exercises in the Japan Sea in waters near the Russian port of Vladivostok, the Ministry of National Defense of China said on Sunday in a statement on Sunday. The exercises will last three days.
