A recent report from Spanish store Brand has provided encouraging news for Liverpool fans, with claims that superstar Mo Salah is close to agreeing a new contract with the club.
This comes as a significant relief for fans as Salah’s future has been a subject of intense speculation, with the Egyptian striker in the final year of his current contract and no new deal yet to be signed.
Since joining Liverpool from AS Roma for £35million in 2017, Mo Salah has been nothing short of sensational.
The 32-year-old scored a surprising goal 227 goals and 101 assists in 372 appearancesaveraging almost a goal or assist per game during his tenure. This consistency has earned him comparisons with football greats such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
This season, Salah has continued to be Liverpool’s driving force, scoring 16 goals and registering 13 assists in just 23 games in all competitions. His contributions have been instrumental in propelling the Reds to the top of the Premier League and the Champions League.
Despite Salah’s incredible form, his contractual situation remained unresolved, with just a few months left before he could begin negotiating a pre-contractual agreement with other European clubs.
However, Marca report that “the situation has completely changed” in recent weeks and talks between Liverpool and Salah have progressed significantly, with the club now hopeful of being able to secure a new deal before the end of the year.
If Salah’s new contract is confirmed, it will undoubtedly be a huge boost for Liverpool as they look to build around their star striker for the coming seasons.
Once Salah’s contract is secured, Liverpool are expected to shift their focus to securing the futures of other key players, with Virgil van Dijk said to be next in line for contract discussions. However, the situation with Trent Alexander-Arnold is more complicated.
According to the report, while Salah and Van Dijk are likely to stay, there are signs that Alexander-Arnold could be on his way out.
The right-back has reportedly rejected two offers from Liverpool to extend his stay and is said to be crazy about moving to Real Madrid.
