Real Madrid rebounded from their faltering Champions League season when superstars Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham scored in a thrilling 3-2 win over Italian league leaders Atalanta.
Madrid had to take advantage of their luck when Mateo Retegui shot from in front of the goal in injury time when he had a golden opportunity to level the match.
Only their third victory in the renewed league phase of the competition leaves the 15-time champions in the unseeded playoff positions, in 18th place.
Paris Saint-Germain also picked up a much-needed victory, beating Salzburg 3-0 and taking the final playoff spot in 24th place.
Bayer Leverkusen moved up to second place after a 1-0 win over Inter Milan, while Bayern Munich defeated Shakhtar 5-1.

Mbappé has been inconsistent since his big summer move to Real, but his goal was something classic, turning his man and shooting in one movement.
He also showed his trademark pace to run clear and have a powerful shot parried, but then picked up an injury and limped off before half-time.
Vinicius was alert to pounce on a loose ball and head inside after Atalanta equalized from the spot and Bellingham also scored a good goal; over the top to reach a long pass, before cutting inside and heading inside.
