RAM ends EV truck plans

The All-Electric Ram 1500 Rev truck is dead. Long live the RAM 1500 Rev extended extended range (once called Ramcharger).

Stellantis, the RAM’s parent company, said Friday that it will no longer develop an electric battery size truck. The company cited low demand for full -size battery trucks such as the main reason, according to a statement sent to TechCrunch and Posted on your website.

“As the demand for full -size battery trucks slows down in North America, Stellantis reassess its product strategy and will suspend the development of a full -size BEV truck,” says the company’s statement. “As part of this, Ram is changing his truck with Reev to Reev for RAM 1500 Rev (previously Ramcharger). This vehicle will establish a new reference point in the medium ton segment, offering an exceptional range, trailer capacity and payload performance. “

If the name exchange is confusing, it is because it is. But this is what is worth knowing. Stellantis canceled the plans to develop an electric battery truck and, instead, will look for an extended range truck that obtains approximately 690 miles of rank through a novel, not unknown approach, of combining a battery with a gas generator.

The All-Electric Ram 1500 truck was part of the American products offensive of the Stellantis parent company to sell more than 25 completely new bevs for the end of the decade. But his future has been in question for months.

After a spotted revelation in CES 2023, and other exhibitions in the months they followed, Stellantis hesitated in his EV truck plans. Stellantis initially said he would start producing the vehicle in 2024. That date soon fell to 2025.

At the end of 2024, Stellantis delayed the plans to develop the wide shoulder truck loaded with technology, a longer cabin with third -row jump seats and two massive battery options that destroy the industry. At that time, Stellantis said he would push its launch to 2026.
