Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward’s former home in New York is for sale.
The former Hollywood power couple’s penthouse in the exclusive Carnegie Hill neighborhood is on the market for $9.95 million, according to listings by Noble Black and Jennifer Stillman of Douglas Elliman Real Estate. The house was listed by his children in the name of Woodward, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2007. Newman died a year later, in September 2008.
“In terms of timing, the response has been absolutely incredible,” Black told FOX Business. “We’ve basically been camping exhibiting every day this week. Given the activity and offers received, we should have a deal early next week.”
Originally built in 1925, The New York Times reports that the couple purchased the penthouse in the early 1980s and would call it home during trips to New York from their primary residence in Westport, Connecticut.

In addition to housing Hollywood legends, the house is also reported to have been where Newman and Woodward would host their industry friends, including Tom CruiseCher, Harry Belafonte and others.
Accessed via a private elevator, guests are immediately welcomed into the home with a large foyer leading to the living room on the right side. The living room boasts many coveted features, including a wood-burning fireplace, two built-in shelves beneath an arched wall, and many oversized windows letting in natural light.

A highlight of the two-bedroom, two-bathroom home is the more than 2,000 square feet of terraces, each with its own outdoor seating area, offering pristine views of Central Park and the reservoir.
Elsewhere, through wooden French doors in the living room, guests can access the formal dining room, which features mixed-textured walls, dark wood floors, wood trim, and built-in wood cabinets.
