Operai is trying to restart

After weeks of internal agitation and high profile poaching by its rivals, the company behind Chatgpt is trying to return to the offensive, starting with some poaching hunting.

Last month he has been especially overwhelming for OpenAI. Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has assaulted the company for some of its main talents of AI, attracting approximately a dozen elite researchers with promises of great money, greater autonomy and a shared mission to build artificial general intelligence (AGI).

The constant flow of exits hurts morality. In response, Operai gave all employees a free week to recharge. But now, the company seems to be counteracting with its own recruitment victories.

Among them is David Lau, former vice president of Software Engineering in Tesla; Uuday Ruddarraju, former head of Infrastructure Engineering at XAI and X of Elon Musk (previously Twitter); Mike Dalton, also from Xai; and Angela Fan, an AI researcher who previously worked at the finish line. Both Dalton and Ruddarraju had been key engineers in Colossus, the XAI mass supercomputer project.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday at the annual Allen & Company Sun Valley conference, an elite meeting of technology and media executives, the OpenAi CEO, Sam Altman, ruled out the defections.

“We have incredibly talented team,” Altman said. “And I think they really love what they are doing. Obviously, some people will go to different places. There is a lot of emotion in the industry.”

Sam Altman was asked how he felt about Zuck and Meta -Poaching the best Openai talent.

Even so, Openai seems anxious to remove the narration of the crisis and return to product innovation.

According ReutersThe company is preparing to launch its own web browser with AI, a direct challenge for Google Chrome and the last sign that OpenAi wants more control over the entire AI user experience.

According to the reports, the browser will integrate the operator, the OpenAi web navigation agent and reconsider the way users seek and sail online. Instead of redirecting third -party sites, the browser can maintain user interactions directly within Chatgpt, an experience that could remodel how people get involved with the Internet. He also suggests that Openai is looking for more data from first -part users and less units of dominant players such as Google.

The movement occurs as well as rival perplexity announced His own native AI browser, Comet, which was launched on Wednesday, July 9.

PERPLEXITY says that users can ask Comet compare the product delivery speeds in all places, summarize articles, explain difficult concepts or generate new ideas based on any content you are seeing, from the page.

Meanwhile, an open source version of its reasoning model is also expected to work next week, a strategic work to compete directly with goal, which has been strongly leaning in the development of open source IA as a way of generating influence and obtaining the Mindshare developer.

The bets are high. Openai’s position as the dominant force in generative AI is no longer a fact. Among the growing group of talent talents, the emergence of perplexity and continuous scrutiny about their government and alignment with Microsoft, OpenAi is now in a crucial moment: claiming impulse or risking losing their leadership.
