Nicole Kidman opens up about the profound final words her mother spoke to her before her death.
He little girl The star mourned the death of his mother. Janelle Ann Kidmanin September, and recalled his last words during an interview in CBS Sunday morning on Sunday, December 15.
“The last words my mom said, which I didn’t know were going to be the last words… I was going to get on a plane and see her again. And she said, ‘Maybe wait a minute because I think you need to take care of yourself right now, Nicky.'” Kidman, 57, saying. “So, I’m doing that more. And I say that to other people in the world, and particularly to women. “I think we tend to not take care of ourselves.”
The Oscar winner went on to reveal that when her grandmother passed away, her last words were, “Be happy.”
“And my mom said, ‘Take care of yourself,’” Kidman recalled.
Kidman said her mother’s last words are something she will honor as a mother of four. (Kidman shares daughter Isabella, 31, and son Connor, 29, with her ex-husband Tom Cruise and teenage daughters Sunday Rose, 16, and Faith Margaret, 13, with her husband Keith Urbano.)
“Obviously, I’m an older mom, so I want to be around my daughters for a long time,” Kidman said. “They are amazing girls and I am lucky to have them. So taking care of myself means being able to take care of them.”
Kidman learned of her mother’s death in early September, shortly after arriving at the Venice International Film Festival.
“Today I arrived in Venice and shortly after found out that my beautiful and brave mother Janelle Ann Kidman has just passed away,” Kidman shared in a statement read on her behalf by little girl director Halina Reyn during the September 7 awards ceremony, where Kidman won best actress. “I am shocked and I have to go to my family, but this award is for her, she formed me, guided me and made me.”
The statement continued: “I am beyond grateful to be able to say her name to all of you through Halina, the collision of life and art is heartbreaking and my heart is broken.”
Days later, Kidman and her sister, Antoniashared a joint message via Instagram thanking friends and fans for supporting them amid their loss.
“My sister and I, along with our family, want to thank you for the great love and kindness we have felt this week,” the sisters wrote. “Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express. Thank you from our entire family for respecting our privacy while taking care of each other ❤️.”

“It’s been difficult,” Nicole, 57, said. The Hollywood Reporter to the Lioness Season 2 premiere in Los Angeles. “It is a difficult path. “I’m holding on.”
The actress said it was bittersweet to celebrate her career success without her mother being around to share it.
“I wish my mom was here,” Nicole told the outlet. “That would be the only thing I would say. Everything is going great with work, but I wish my mom was here.”
