Nicaragua modifies the Constitution, grants “absolute power” to the president and his wife

The Nicaraguan government strengthened the power of President Daniel Ortega on Thursday when he modified the Constitution to give Ortega already his wife, Rosario Murillo, “absolute power.” The amendment, proposed by Ortega, consecrates Murillo as “co -president”, and transfers the legislative, judicial and supervision control of the country to the couple.
