Both NFL and Netflix fans can experience the holidays on Roblox through winter-themed football events on NFL Universe Football and Nextworld, inspired by the NFL Holiday Games streaming live on Netflix.
To celebrate these NFL matchups, users can participate in special football-themed challenges in both experiences, unlocking one of four exclusive user-generated content rewards themed to the teams playing on Christmas Day: Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans.
NFL Universe Football will launch its holiday event on December 17, offering players the chance to team up with friends and win exclusive holiday and NFL cosmetics, craft items, participate in scavenger hunts and more.
Nextworld, which is Netflix’s platform in addition to Roblox, will feature an exclusive NFL-branded mini-game launching on December 19 with NFL-branded UGC items that users can earn through gameplay. This partnership will foster engagement between experiences.
“NFL Holiday Games-inspired experiences on Netflix provide a fun and light-hearted opportunity to bring users the magic of gaming to the Roblox platform,” Ed Kiang, NFL vice president of video games, said in a statement. “From Nextworld to NFL Universe Football, fans can celebrate Netflix’s Christmas Day team showdown in new and engaging ways.”
“Our vision for NFL Universe Football has always been to create a dynamic experience where fans can engage with their favorite sport year-round,” Harry Bienenstock, head of growth at Voldex, said in a statement. “Seeing +40% growth in visits year over year shows that players love what we are building. This winter, we are excited to connect even more fans through holiday-themed events and exclusive team rewards.”
Voldex acquired the football game and incorporated the NFL brand. In April, Voldex acquired Utimate Football on Roblox for a multi-million dollar price. Ultimate Football is one of Roblox’s highest-grossing UGC games and, as of April 2024, had received over 150 million views in six months. Then in September, the NFL and Voldex announced they would put NFL branding on the game, making it NFL Universe Football.
