Morrissey cancels US shows after the threat of death in Canada

British artist Morrissey has canceled two shows in the United States after receiving a death threat before a concert in Ottawa, Canada.

A 26 -year -old Ottawa man was released on bail after supposedly pronouncing a threat to kill the singerwhose real name is Steven Morrissey, before his performance at a music festival last week.

The event continued as planned, but the singer then canceled two shows in Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Morrissey was the leader of the rock band The Smiths, but left the band in 1987 to follow a solo race.

It is known for being open on issues such as animal welfare and politics.

In 2006, he refused to tour Canada in protest in the annual search for Seal Hunt.

After the threat against his life in Ottawa last week, he canceled Friday’s show in Connecticut and one in Boston.

“In recent days, there has been a credible threat in Morrissey’s life,” said a statement from Boston’s place on Instagram.

“As a precaution of the security of both the artist and the band, tomorrow’s commitment has been canceled at the MGM Music Hall in Fenway.”
