Monaco manager Sebastien Pocognoli is confident Paul Pogba has not lost any of his “vision and technique” after naming the former Manchester United midfielder in his squad for tomorrow’s Ligue 1 clash against Rennes.
Pogba has not played since September 2023 after testing positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) when he was at Juventus.
He was initially given a four-year ban, but was later reduced to 19 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The 32-year-old, who has always maintained his innocence, joined Monaco over the summer but, having built up his match fitness level, had to wait to overcome a troublesome ankle problem.
Now he’s ready and available and Pocognoli is eager to get him involved.
“We try to help him reach his full potential so that the team can be victorious,” he said.
“He has the qualities to adapt to what we want to implement in the midfield; he has not lost his vision or his technique.
“(He will bring) experience and leadership, both on and off the court, not to mention his qualities, which must adapt to the pace of the competition.”
Pogba has spent two spells with United and two with Juventus, with whom he won four Serie A titles.
