Meta’s Threads app has grown to 300 million users, and more than 100 million people use the service every day. Mark Zuckerberg announced the new milestone in on Threads, which says “Threads’ strong momentum continues.”
Zuckerberg has repeatedly said that Threads has a “good chance” of becoming the company’s next billion-user app. Although it is still quite far from that goal, its growth appears to be accelerating. The app reached 100 million users last fall and reached at the beginning of November. On the other hand, Apple revealed that Threads was the app in 2024, behind the shopping app Temu, which took first place in Apple’s rankings.
The coming weeks could see some big changes for Threads as Meta looks to capitalize on that growth. The company reportedly plans to start experimenting with the first thread ads in early 2025, according to a report from The Information.
Threads isn’t the only app trying to reclaim the “public square,” as some veteran users of the platform now know it as X. Bluesky has also seen significant growth lately.
