Yachting journalist Kevin Koenig called Katy Perry’s 78-foot (24-meter) Feadship yacht, the Caravelle, a “very tasteful” choice.
Marine journalist Kevin Koenig, better known online as “The Yacht Fella,” took to social media this week to dismantle the ship that Katy Perry was reportedly seen aboard cozying up to former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The Caravelle, a 78-foot (24-meter) motor yacht built in 1965 by Dutch shipbuilder Feadship, was a “very tasteful choice” by the pop star, Koenig told FOX Business.
“So, that boat was not only built by Feadship, which is top notch as far as builders go, but it was designed by a man named Carlo Riva,” Koenig said. “And Carlo Riva is a legendary ship designer.”

Koenig compared owning the Caravelle to “owning a vintage Porsche 911 that was also designed by Enzo Ferrari.”
While many modern yachts have increased in size, such as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ 417-foot sailboat, Koenig said Perry’s boat stands out for its more modest proportions.

“I would compare these huge 300-foot boats that you see today to a big gold Rolex, and Katie’s boat is like an old Patek Philippe, really slim, with a leather strap that slides right under your shirt cuff,” he said.
In an Instagram post earlier this week, Koenig said he had been inundated with messages asking about Perry’s boat, admitting that he didn’t expect the singer to have such “exquisite taste.”

“This is as pedigree and tasteful as motor yachts get,” he said. “I know. I was surprised too.”

Perry and Trudeau were reportedly seen aboard the Caravelle off the coast of Santa Barbara last week, where they appeared cozy and affectionate. In one image, the former Canadian leader kisses the singer on the cheek and brings her closer to hug her.
