Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca says he and the club have full confidence in Mykhailo Mudryk after he was found to have breached doping rules.
The 23-year-old failed an anti-doping test, which the FA conducts periodically, and has been suspended by the club.
An investigation will be carried out to discover the origin of Mudryk’s negative result.
The player himself states that he has never knowingly used performance-enhancing drugs.
Speaking on the issue, Maresca said: “We trust Mykhailo and we support Mykhailo and trust means we believe in Mykhailo, we trust Mykhailo and we support him.
“What Mykhailo said and what we said is that we trust him and we support him.

“The situation is a little clearer. “We have a statement from the club, which has already said what we have to say.”

“First of all, these kinds of things not only happen to young players but also to experienced players.
“It has been my duty since we started to try to have a fairly close relationship with the players because I like it that way.
“Exactly the same thing happens with Mudryk and I am here to help you with anything you need. At this moment it is normal that he is going to need help from the club, from me and from his teammates and we are all there trying to support him.”
Mudryk has not seen many minutes in the Premier League this season, but has been used in cup competitions.
He would likely have started Chelsea’s Europa Conference League match against Shamrock Rovers on Thursday.
When asked if he believes Mudryk is innocent, he added: “We all believe that, then we’ll see.
“I think he will come back. The only thing is that we don’t know when, it’s the only doubt we have at the moment. I’m sure he’ll come back.
“It’s not about Mykhailo, it’s about any player in the world who, if this kind of thing happens, needs support.

“It doesn’t matter if they are 20 or 30 years old, English, Italian or Ukrainian; When these kinds of things happen, I need support, you need support, they need support, we all need support.
“It’s not about Mykhailo, his age or his country. When these kinds of things happen, we all need support.
“I was improving a lot, especially in the last game. He has begun to understand in which position he has to remain.
“At first it was because of his abilities that he moved and ran a lot, but in the last two or three games he improved a lot and we were very happy with him. In terms of where it may be in one, two or three years. I don’t know.
“The talent we see on the training pitch is exactly the same as what you sometimes see during the game. With Mykhailo it is exactly the same feeling. In training it is exactly the same as in the game.”
