Rubén Amorim’s first six weeks in charge of Manchester United have certainly not been as easy as he would have anticipated, but it seems his ideas are finally bearing fruit.
The 39-year-old may have only won two Premier League games to date, but he managed to greatly improve his performance against league leaders Liverpool on Sunday to halt a run of four consecutive defeats.
Goals from Lisandro Martínez and Amad Diallo secured an unexpected point given the Reds’ imperious form at home, with the 3-4-2-1 system starting to look effective in all areas of the pitch.
Despite the results, the January transfer window presents the first opportunity for the new boss to strengthen his ranks, with several areas needing drastic investment to take the club back to its glory days.
One area in particular could be much improved, with several names already mentioned about a move to Old Trafford, including one who has lit up England’s top flight in recent months.
According to a Spanish media, Man Utd willing to make €50m (£42m) bid land Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo before the January window ends.
The 25-year-old has been in excellent form for Thomas Frank’s team in the 2024/25 season. Scoring 13 times in 20 appearances.and only Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah have scored more goals to date.
However, the Bees would be reluctant to part with the star man in this window, but the report claims that United’s hierarchy view the Cameroonian as the solution to their attacking problems.
He can operate in a variety of attacking roles, whether central, as a ten or on either flank, which could make him the perfect candidate for Amorim’s current philosophy.
It would certainly provide an upgrade to a player currently plying his trade at Old Trafford, potentially ending his long-standing affiliation with the club in the process.
Academy graduate Marcus Rashford looked set to be a crucial player during Amorim’s tenure in charge after scoring. three times in his first two games under the new boss.
However, it appears his time at his boyhood club could come to an end in the near future following his recent exclusions from the first team.
The Englishman has not appeared for the Red Devils since the Europa League victory over Viktoria Plzen in the first week of December, and has not featured in any of the last six exits in all competitions.
Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Juventus are Only three teams interested in signing The 27-year-old this window, opening the door to a possible move for Mbeumo.
The Brentford ace has vastly outperformed Rashford in numerous key areas during 2024/25, highlighting what an excellent addition he would be, even if he may cost a pretty penny in the process.
Mbeumo, who has been nicknamed “one of the best players in the Premier League” by expert Dan Bardell, has surpassed the current United striker, while averaging more progressive carries and passes – highlighting his ability in the final third.

There is no doubt that signings are desperately needed at Old Trafford if the Red Devils are to salvage anything from the current campaign, but it is crucial that any addition is smart and not just for the sake of it.
The Cameroonian is a player who could thrive if he moves to the northwest as he has all the tools to succeed under the former Sporting CP coach.
£42 million is a phenomenal price for a player of his caliber, subsequently giving the team the new attacking dimension they have been desperately craving in recent months.
