Brendan Rodgers insisted on the heartbreaking defeat of Celtic against Bayern Munich was not what his team deserved.
Celtic was a few moments of forcing extra time in the Allianz Arena after leading the objective of the second half of Nicolas Kuhn who leveled the draw.
But Alfonso Davies scored in the fourth minute of detention time to knock out the Scottish side more cruel and undo what was a brave exhibition of the helpless.
The Celtic boss told Amazon Prime Video: “It was (a Suckerpunch), not what the players deserved especially at the end.
“They gave the game a lot.
“We did not give too much, I felt that our concentration was good and denied them space, and then we had quality and excellent movements, and we really had the best opportunities in the game I felt.
“A real heroic performance, only unfortunate at the end.
“It was such a cruel way not even losing the game but about leaving the competition.”
Despite losing in aggregate, his 1-1 draw at Bayern will become one of the best in the recent European history of Celtic and Rodgers, who returned for their second spell in the club at the beginning of last season, believes that His team is demonstrating is competitive in Europe once again.
He added: “I think our European credibility has been restored this season, I think we had built it from last year, that is my food to take this season.”
They can leave Munich with their heads high 💚

Captain Callum McGregor said the late heartbreak was difficult to take, but praised the performance of his teammates for executing an almost perfect game plan.
He told Prime Video Sport: “Probably one of the most cruel (results in a Celtic shirt), the performance of the players, gave everything and pushed a side of Bayern really good all the way.
“Sometimes, football is cruel and you don’t get what you deserve, but I have to say that I am very proud of the players and the way they played and managed.
“We leave that launch without regrets. It is a true and true victory, but I think we can be proud of ourselves.
“He was prepared to try to notice the next one too, and even if we had to go on extra time, we also liked.
“I think anyone who sees that football game tonight would see a very good Celtic team.”
