When the most recent demonstration of the folding towels of the humanoid robot Figure 02 fell, I knew that he had to make a video about it. CNET robot coverage always receives comments from viewers who ask if robots could wash their clothes.
In the demonstration, Figure 02 folds towels at a speed of approximately 22 seconds per towel.
With advances in AI and robotics, the dream of automated domestic tasks feels more closely, but it is not yet here. I tried my laundry folding skills against the robot of Figure 02 to see how close we really are. The most recent demonstration of Figure 02 shows the humanoid robot that doubles six towels at a speed of approximately 22 seconds per towel. I tried the same action in my apartment to see if I could do it faster.
I tried to make my folding DIY configuration as similar as possible to that used by the figure in the last demonstration.
Folding towels is not the only part of the clothes that people expect to download in humanoid robots. The Figure CEO, Brett Adcock, has also shared a robot video of Figure 02 crouched to add clothes to a washing machine.
Other companies are exploring the national abilities of AI robots. It has been shown that Neo, a humanoid robot designed by 1x specifically to do domestic tasks, carrying a laundry basket and loading a washing machine.
