Liberal networks avoid the ‘extreme’ label for New York Socialist Mayor candidate

NEWNow you can listen to Fox News articles!

Liberals in the news divisions of the network do not have an objective or non -partisan vision when it comes to who in politics can be defined as an extreme. When you are liberal, Vermont’s independent senator Bernie Sanders is not extreme. It is not far from you. He gets a wave and a smile. But from their place in the political spectrum, conservative Republicans are uniformly “ultraconservatives.”

In the morning after Zohran Mamdani won the Democratic primaries for the mayor of New York, defeating the merely liberal Andrew Cuomo, the networks could not support define a socialist as a political problem for the Democrats. But they could describe it as charming.

ABAN Katersky of ABC proclaimed in “Good Morning America”, the voters made a “surprise choice to support a young and charismatic socialist who promises to make New York city more affordable, indicating that they are ready for a break from the past.”

The journalist Rachel Scott said that Mamdani ran “very distant”, but sounded like a positive: “For the progressives, this is a good sign for them. They see this as their candidate who ran on a very distant agenda that spoke of affordability.”

In “CBS Mornings”, the reporter Jerichka Duncan said that Mamdani was “an American Muslim immigrant progressive” with “social media experts” who mounted “a wave of anti-establishment feeling to a shocking victory.” That is a comadreja word for an extremist: “anti-establishment.”

Coanfrerion Vladimir Duthiers almost supported the winning Democrat: “Meeting people where they are, listening to them and having solutions that feel that they talk about their future is incredibly powerful.”

In the “Today” of NBC, the reporter Emilie Ikeda defined this candidate simply on the left side of Cuomo: “Mamdani ran to the left of Cuomo, focusing on the affordability and pushing populist ideas, including free public fores Wealthy.

An ideological change to the extreme? They couldn’t say that. But Mamdani issued denouncing Donald Trump’s fascism “without any comment or correction.

Only Katersky of ABC vaguely mentioned Mamdani “faced criticism for his antiisraeli rhetoric.” None noticed that he released a rap song called “Salaam” in which he praises the “Holy Land Five”, which was convicted of channeling millions of dollars to Hamas.

The main change of the main signals of the socialist socialist in the Democratic Party, the strategists say, the strategists say.

Mamdani hates Israel and established his student chapter for justice in Palestine in Bowdoin College in the 2010s and, as a state assemblyman, introduced a controversial bill to strip the non -profit status of organizations with any link for Israeli settlements. His opponents will make this a problem, even if the networks cannot handle it.

The “PBS News Hour” on Wednesday night became the analysis of Errol Louis, who failed in several primary democratic campaigns for the New York City Council. Amna Nawaz, a Pakistani-American Muslim, raised the right-wing and ugliness: “Errol, we have also seen some quite ugly attacks aroused in reaction to Mamdani’s victory. That includes attacks on his faith. It would be the first Muslim mayor of the city if he has chosen. And we have seen some Islamophobia like this of the magic of the city. Charlie Kirk. He wrote: ‘Twenty -four years ago, a group of Muslims killed 2,753 people on September 11. Now a Muslim socialist is on the way to running New York City. What does all this mean for the type of campaign that could see in advance? “Louis said:” Hate and division does not work. ”

PBS could not call Mamdani “extreme left”, but a new Newsbusters studio conducted by Bill D’Agostino described the PBS pattern. From January 21 to June 21, the network funded by taxpayers spoke of the “extreme left” only three times, and the “extreme right” 127 times, an absurd relationship from 42 to one.

Could a Mamdani mayor fail? The Chicago Tribune, who supported Joe Biden in 2020, recently published an editorial entitled “The New Yorkers, Take It From Chicago: We have seen this movie before, and the end is not beautiful.” The article wrote: “Mayor Brandon Johnson shares most of Mamdani’s ideas (at least in principle), and many of them are popular in blue cities. But experience has taught us here that extreme left candidates do not create effective or popular municipal executives in today’s stressful economy.”

Just as networks are not really interested in how Brandon Johnson is acting in Chicago, no one should expect them to be critical of Zohran Mamdani. Democratic mayors have led cities with deep blue to the land for 50 years or more, and no one in these networks will hold them responsible, since Democratic voters. Save that “responsibility” talk for Republicans.
