LG’s transparent OLED T TV can be yours for the modest price of $60,000

LG’s wireless transparent OLED TV is now available. The 77-inch OLED T has 4K resolution, LG’s wireless streaming technology for video and audio, and the ability to switch between transparent and opaque modes with the press of a button. This futuristic technology, first introduced at CES 2024, will only set you back… oh holy hell, this thing costs $60,000.

Engadget’s Billy Steele reviewed the OLED T in January and was impressed with its unique presentation. Although some transparent images may seem disturbing, such as a miniature singer who appeared to be in the room, the video of the fish tank in the image below was more pleasant. He also found that the TV’s downward-facing speakers sounded surprisingly good.

You can switch between transparent and opaque modes by pressing a button that raises or lowers a contrast display. It rolls up to form a box at its base if you prefer the original fish tank look. It also includes backlighting to accentuate its transparent appearance.

The TV also has a chyron-shaped bar at the bottom, which you can use to check sports scores, the weather, song titles, and more. The bar can stay on even when the rest of the TV is off.

The OLED T is powered by LG’s Alpha 11 A1 processor, which has four times the performance of the previous generation chip, including 70 percent better graphics performance and 30 percent faster processing speed. The TV keeps its profile clean with LG’s Zero Connect Box, which wirelessly sends video and audio to the TV. Simply plug in your streaming boxes and game consoles instead of the TV.

If you’re Bill Gates (sup, Bill!), you can shell out $60,000 to order the LG OLED T starting today. It is available on LG’s website and at select retail partners, including Best Buy.
