Recent layoffs in the IT sector are sending shock waves through the industry, challenging long data beliefs about job security in the main technology companies. Driven by economic uncertainties, automation and impulse for efficiency, companies are aggressively reducing costs, often at the expense of their workforce. A Viral Publication of Reddit has fed further the discussions, shedding light on the harsh realities faced by professionals in Microsoft, Meta and Amazon.
“The labor security in the great technology is a thing of the past,” the user wrote. “The days when working for the main technology companies meant that long -term stability was over. IA is restructuring the workforce, making several roles redundant, and career professionals are particularly vulnerable. People between 30 and 40 years are at a crossroads, too senior for entry level work, but they are not yet in executive roles.”
The publication also highlighted the growing trend of companies that eliminate roles permanently, without intention to hire again. “Amazon workforce reductions are more aggressive than before. While the company used to cut around 7-8% of employees annually due to performance reviews, that number has increased in two digits. The layoffs are carried out with ruthless efficiency, with little consideration for the well-being of employees.”
While the global technology centers such as London, Silicon Valley and Dubai face severe decelerations, the post pointed out that the Indian labor market seems a bit more stable. However, the broader perspective is still gloomy, with professionals from all over the world struggling to find employment in the midst of a supersatured labor market.

Beyond AI, subcontracting is emerging as a key disruptor. “A greater immediate threat than AI or work visas is a relocation. Companies are sending IT work of entry level to Latin America and India, eliminating opportunities for new graduates. Even medium -level roles are getting angry, which makes it more difficult to climb the professional staircase,” said a commentator.
