Kalshi argues that geography doesn’t matter in the IGRA case

Kalshi, the main prediction market in North America, argues that the location of the bets placed does not contradict the regulatory law of Indian games (IGRA).

Kalshi states that the company’s association with the coacked Robinhood Markets, Inc. and Robinhood Derivos LLC (Robinhood) do not constitute a violation of the IGRA and has invoked a part of the Law of Control of Games Illeles of Internet (Uigea) to support its position that is not a concern about bets in its application.

Critics have seen that the part of the Uiega is used as a weak defense, but Kalshi falls under a specific branch of the Public Exchange Law (CEA).

Kalshi also argued that he would suffer irreparable financial damage as a result of the court order presented by the California tribes in the United States District Court for the California district.

The prediction provider stated that it would have to stop operating to regulate the location of the bets placed to align the locations of the tribal lands.

Whatever the result, the hearing on the possible judicial order on October 23, 2025 will be a matter of marquee and could lead to serious legal disputes about tribal relations and the future of the IGRA.
