Like any Superhero James Gunn project, Season 2 of “Peacemaker” is filled to the edge with small fun and Easter eggs. Gunn, being a guy who has no problem putting ultra DC characters observed as Weasel (Sean Gunn), Ratcatcher II (Daniela Melchior), or, for the case, the peacemaker (John Cena), front and center, some of the figures that exist on the periphery of their stories can be peculiar. One of those characters is a supervillain who is actually quite powerful, but incredibly easy to lose.
Near the end of season 2 of “Peacemaker”, Episode 1, entitled “The Ties That Grind” – Peacemaker, also known as Christopher Smith, finally decides to venture more deeply in the parallel universe that he accidentally discovered some time ago. There, it is not only a very respected and rich superhero, but his father, Auggie “White Dragon” Smith (Robert Patrick), and his brother, Keith (David Denman), are alive and extremely support with him. Together, the three Smith fight against crime as the main trio, and based on the honors on the shelves of the Pacifier of the alternative universe, the public absolutely loves the team.
With all kinds of awards and keys to the city’s attention, it can be easy to ignore a newspaper cut that individualizes a very specific trio triumph: namely his victory over the relatively little known but very dangerous CC villain called Ultrahumanita. Combine this with the references of implementation of the episode that can well insinuate the existence of the powerful Mr. MXYZPTLK, and it seems that season 2 of “Pacifier” loves to quietly introduce some of the most dangerous threats of DC.
Having lost to the upper trio, the ultrahumanite remains scarce on the screen (at least, for now). However, he is an extremely appropriate villain for a variant of the peacemaker and his family to defeat. Essentially, a very intelligent and large white monkey with a gigantic powers of head and mind control, the villain fits the tradition of the “Peacemaker” antagonists initiated by Charlie, the gorilla controlled by the butterfly in the episode of season 1 “Monkey Dory”. In addition, Ultrahumanita is also the exact type of villain who likes to settle the villain Gunn. In the comics, the character debuted in 1939 and was soon established as a super genius of body exchange that became notorious for being the first recurring member of the Rogues of Superman Gallery. In fact, it is easily one of Superman’s strongest villains.
Although monkey’s body is possibly its best known form, it is known that ultrahumanite consciousness takes care of actresses, dinosaurs and other celebrities. Outside the comics, the incarnation of the ultrahumanita is probably better known as one of the villains in “Justice League: The Animated Series”, with the voice of Ian Buchanan. Here, the antagonist is such a massive fan of the arts and culture that it is effectively his villain trick, and both Batman (Kevin Conroy) and The Flash (Michael Rosenbaum) learn to pull their strings.
At this time, ultrahumanito is little more than one of the many “pacifiers” Easter eggs. Even so, if the character makes a physical appearance during the events of Season 2 of “Peacemaker”, the art lover approach would be interesting … although just because that version of the ultrahumanite almost surely would hate the inclination of children on 11th street by metal for hair.
The new episodes of season 2 of “Peacemaker” begin to transmit in HBO Max every Thursday.
