‘Indians love to insult themselves’: Indian passengers’ unruly behavior while eating and chatting in aisle during Thailand flight draws criticism

A video showing disorderly conduct on board a Thailand-bound flight has sparked a heated online debate over travel etiquette for Indian passengers. The images, shared on Instagram by user Ankit Kumar, show passengers standing, eating and chatting in the aisles, blatantly ignoring Thai Air Asia cabin crew’s repeated requests to remain seated. The incident has sparked widespread criticism and debate about the importance of civility during air travel.

In the video, Ankit Kumar expressed his disappointment over the unruly behavior and stated, “Indians love to insult themselves.” The clip highlights groups of passengers crowding the aisles mid-flight, ignoring multiple announcements from the crew to comply with safety rules. Frustrated by the behaviour, Ankit concluded his video with a scathing comment: “Put them on a train.”

The video has sparked a variety of reactions online. Many criticized the passengers’ actions, linking them to broader social behavior concerns. One user commented: “Money doesn’t give you class!” Another commented: “Indians need to learn civics first and then interact with normal people. “I am also Indian, but some people are on another level.”

Some users defended passengers, arguing that staying in the aisle is not a problem as long as the seat belt sign is off. “Stop making a fuss over small things,” one person commented.

In response, Ankit Kumar addressed the criticism in a follow-up video, claiming that passengers were shouting and disturbing others who were trying to sleep, despite repeated requests from cabin crew to remain seated.

The incident also gave rise to wider debates about the behavior of Indian tourists abroad. One user, who claimed to have lived in Thailand for several years, shared his frustration, stating: “Women and locals are the most fed up with Indian men.”
