Industrial Harsh Goenka has caused a heated conversation online after revealing a worrying comment of a global CEO. In a publication about X (previously Twitter), the president of RPG Enterprises told how the executive dismissed the intellectual role of Indian professionals, a statement that Goenka believes that reflects a persistent colonial mentality.
“A global CEO with the most progressive Indian subsidiary told me:” I want my Indian CEO to be the best execution engine: large hands and legs, but there is no need for brain. That part is here in the United Kingdom, “Goenka wrote.
“This approach is exactly why more people now prefer to work for Indian companies,” he added.
The publication quickly attracted acute online reactions. “Then it is true: neocolonial attitudes continue to persist,” said a user.
Another user echoed the feeling: “This mentality is exactly why Indian talent is increasingly choosing local businesses. We want brains to value not just execution.”
Elia Jayaraj, MD in Benhaans Pharma, joked: “That CEO plan of the United Kingdom to make the Indian team all hands and legs without brain? Hilarious, how to ask a Cricket star to only look for the ball! Phosphorus.”
Another commentator intervened: “That mentality is exactly what is moving away from the best Indian talents of global subsidiaries and towards Indian companies that value both execution and intellect. In today’s world, leadership is not about subcontracting thought: it is about empowering it at each level, each geography.”
A third added a pointed criticism: “In summary, he wants a man of himself … by appointing the CEO Indians and when using festive Kurts, they achieve much more. It could be wrong, but I firmly believe that CEO and experts in the stock market are too paid and overvalued.”
